Sound And Light Show At Chittorgarh
Sound And Light Show At ChittorgarhChittaurgarh has been a land of brave kings, known for its massive fort a top of the hill, which can be singled out for its glorious past. Historically, it is considered that Chittor was built by the Maurya dynasty in the 7th century AD. The fort has a chequered history. It has a witnessed some of the bloodiest battles in the history, three great sakes and some of the most heroic deeds of valour, which are still sung by the local musicians.

This sound and light show starts with 6th century king Chitrangada who is the in search of land for his capital found Chittor to be a safe place from invasions. It then moved to the brave Bappa Rawal who defended Chittor against the Arab invaders and brought Mewar on the political map of then India. Episodes related with the beauty and sense of pride of Rani Padmini, the versatility of Rana Kumba, the spirituality and single minded devotion of Meera, treacherous plan to kill young Udai Singh and beyond the call of duty sacrifice by Panna Dhai, etc. have all been enacted using sound light and various effects to bring life back roto the fort.
Jaisamand & Sajjangarh
JaisamandThe Jaisamand Lake is one of the largest artificial lake in Asia, covering an area of 36 square km. This lake was constructed by Maharana Jai Singh in the 1685 A.D., fortunately created by damming of Gomti River. This shallow lake is located nearly 48 km in the southeast of Udaipur. Today it is considered to be 14 km long and 9 km wide. It is the most tourist populated spot during summers. Beside this there are number of attractive marble chhatris (cenotaphs) around the lakeside, each of them with an elephant in the front. The summer palace of Maharani of Udaipur is located near the Jaisamand Lake which provided refreshing moods to the women of Royal Rajasthan in its olden days. Around the lake, there is long forest zone that was once the hunting grounds of Maharajas of Mewar. It is now converted into a sanctuary which has wide variety of flora and fauna. There are about seven islands on Jaisamand Lake. The nearby area and the low lake site are inhabited by the tribes of Bhils and Minas.

SajjangarhIn the late 18th century Sajjangarh or the heritage palace of Sajjan was built by its namesake Maharana Sajjan Singh (1874-1884). About 5km west of Udaipur City it is at a height of 3100 feet above sea level and 1100 feet over the Fateh Sagar Lake. The palaces of the fort look like a tiara on the head of a rocky hill, the one on which the fort proudly stands. The rocky crag is massive and has an excellent view of the surrounding hills, pristine lakes and snow-white palaces. The fortplace is crowned by the Monsoon Palace, which also has a panoramic view of the lakes and palaces and the city below. The fort was built by Maharana Sajjan Singh as an observatory to watch the progress of the monsoon clouds over the surrounding areas. It is said that the Rana had planned to build a nine storey observatory here but his dreams remained unfulfilled owing to his untimely death at the age of 26. Towards the left of the Monsoon heritage palace is Shikarbadi or the Khas Odi, a shooting box that lies at the southern end of the lake Pichola. It was built by Sir Sajjan Singh between 1874 and 1884 and now has been converted into a small palace with exquisite surroundings that can be approached both by car and boat. The boat trip is recommended more as it gives an extraordinary view from the south end of the lake.
